PROBLEM
The company had a twin shaft shredder, which would not hold up to the “caustic” conditions created by the products. In addition, they need to completely separate the liquids from the bottles or they could not dump into the landfill. They needed to grind the plastic reject bottles of the various shampoos and lotions, and separate the liquid from the bottles. The grinder/shredder would need to be custom fabricated out of stainless steel, and the standard frame modified to facilitate a “tilt” allowing all liquids to drain out of the machine. It would need to be “shoehorned” into a very tight setting.

SOLUTION
A custom built Grinder/Shredder would need to be manufactured for the application. Manufacturer agreed to build a specified machine to suit the application using a special stainless steel material, and involving numerous changes to the basic design of the grinder/shredder.

ACTION
A “Monorail” style grinder/shredder fabricated out of a special Stainless Steel, and modified to suit the requirements of the installation, was purchased.

RESULTS
Customer was surveyed after the installation of the grinder/shredder and related equipment. Are you pleased with your investment:?

– “The good news is: what use to take 8 hours and 3 men to grind the reject containers. Now it takes 2 hours with 1 man. And, we can legally dump the materials in the landfill.”
